Ultrasound Cleaning of Infected Tonsils

Ultrasound cleaning of the tonsils is one of the few ENT methods that aims to preserve the tonsils rather than remove them. In recurrent tonsillitis, the real problem is not the acute infection, but the stable bacterial biofilm in the tonsillar crypts. There, bacteria become resistant and maintain a “silent” inflammation. Ultrasound destabilizes this biofilm, something that antibiotics alone cannot achieve. For this reason, after the procedure, the frequency of recurrences decreases, and subsequent treatments become more effective.
