Dopplerography and duplex scanning of the renal arteries
This non-invasive investigation uses ultrasound to assess both the structure and blood flow in the renal arteries.
Color Doppler Duplex technology allows real-time visualization of blood vessels, enabling the detection of any narrowing (stenosis), obstructions, or circulation abnormalities that may affect kidney function.
It is useful in diagnosing renovascular hypertension, renal vascular disorders, and in monitoring kidney transplants.
For optimal visualization of the renal arteries, it is recommended to:
- Avoid eating for at least 6 hours prior to the investigation (still water is allowed).
- Avoid foods that cause bloating (such as beans, cabbage, and carbonated beverages) the day before the procedure.
