The Blood Biochemistry Profile – Extended is a comprehensive panel of laboratory tests designed to provide an in-depth assessment of the function of the body's major organs and systems.

The profile includes an extended range of biochemical markers to evaluate liver, kidney, and pancreatic function, carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism, fluid and electrolyte balance, as well as to detect inflammation and identify possible evidence of a recent streptococcal infection.

It is recommended both as part of routine preventive health screening and for a more comprehensive evaluation in individuals with symptoms, chronic conditions, or risk factors.

Key indicators of overall health

  • Carbohydrate metabolism (Glucose) — helps assess blood glucose levels and identify disorders of glucose metabolism, including the risk of diabetes mellitus.
  • Liver function (ALT, AST, Total Bilirubin, GGT, Alkaline Phosphatase, Total Protein, Albumin) — provides a comprehensive assessment of liver function, biliary tract health, and the liver's protein synthesis capacity, helping detect liver cell damage or impaired bile flow.
  • Kidney function (Serum Creatinine, Urea) — reflects the kidneys' ability to filter blood efficiently and eliminate metabolic waste products.
  • Pancreatic function (Total Alpha-Amylase, Lipase) — helps evaluate pancreatic function and detect conditions that may affect digestion.
  • Lipid metabolism (Total Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol, Triglycerides) — assesses fat metabolism and helps estimate the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.
  • Mineral and electrolyte balance (Total Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride) — provides information about the body's fluid and electrolyte balance, which is essential for the normal function of the heart, muscles, and nervous system.
  • Iron metabolism (Iron) — helps identify disorders of iron metabolism, including iron deficiency.
  • Inflammation (C-Reactive Protein, CRP) — a sensitive marker of acute inflammation in the body.
  • Antistreptolysin O (ASO) — helps identify evidence of a recent or previous streptococcal infection and assess the risk of post-streptococcal complications.

Indications

  • comprehensive preventive health assessment
  • annual health check-ups
  • evaluation of liver, kidney, and pancreatic function
  • assessment of carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism
  • evaluation of fluid and electrolyte balance
  • assessment of cardiovascular risk
  • chronic fatigue, weakness, or reduced physical performance
  • abdominal pain or discomfort
  • monitoring of chronic medical conditions
  • monitoring treatment effectiveness, as recommended by a physician

Procedure

A blood sample is collected from a vein using standard venipuncture. The procedure takes only a few minutes and is well tolerated by most patients.

The sample is analyzed according to the tests included in the profile.
