Radiocauterization of skin lesions – seborrheic keratoma – is a minimally invasive procedure used for the removal of benign skin lesions, such as seborrheic keratosis, using radiofrequency energy.

The method allows precise removal of the lesion with minimal impact on surrounding healthy tissues and effective bleeding control. The procedure improves the appearance of the skin and provides a favorable aesthetic outcome with a short recovery period.

Indications

  • seborrheic keratosis evaluated and confirmed by a dermatologist;
  • increase in size or changes in the appearance of the lesion;
  • lesions frequently traumatized by friction from clothing or accessories;
  • local discomfort, irritation, or itching;
  • removal of lesions for aesthetic reasons;
  • recommendation of a dermatologist.

Procedure / Duration

The procedure is performed by a dermatologist on an outpatient basis.

After evaluation of the lesion and preparation of the treatment area, radiocauterization is performed using a special electrode that applies radiofrequency energy for controlled removal of the lesion and simultaneous tissue coagulation.

Depending on the size and number of lesions, the procedure takes approximately 10–20 minutes.

Contraindications

The procedure is not recommended in the following situations:

  • active infections or inflammatory conditions in the treatment area;
  • severe blood clotting disorders;
  • suspicion of a malignant lesion without prior dermatological evaluation;
  • medical conditions that contraindicate minimally invasive dermatological procedures.

Recovery / Restrictions

The healing period usually takes approximately 7–14 days, depending on the size and location of the lesion.

Patients are advised to maintain hygiene of the treated area, avoid traumatizing the formed crust, and protect the skin from direct sun exposure until complete healing.

Benefits

  • precise removal of skin lesions;
  • minimal damage to surrounding healthy tissues;
  • effective bleeding control;
  • quick and safe procedure;
  • short recovery period;
  • favorable aesthetic result.

Preparation:

No special preparation is required.

A dermatological consultation is recommended before the procedure to evaluate the lesion, confirm the indication, and exclude changes requiring further investigation.
