Hepatopancreatic Profile
The Pancreato-Hepatic Profile is a comprehensive laboratory panel designed to assess the function of the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas. It includes markers of liver injury, cholestasis, liver synthetic function, and pancreatic enzymes, providing an overall evaluation of these organs.
The profile is used for the diagnosis of liver and pancreatic disorders, as well as for monitoring disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
Indications
The test may be recommended in cases of:
- abdominal pain, especially in the upper abdomen;
- suspected hepatitis, fatty liver disease, or cirrhosis;
- suspected acute or chronic pancreatitis;
- suspected cholestasis or biliary tract disorders;
- jaundice, nausea, vomiting, or persistent digestive symptoms;
- monitoring patients with liver or pancreatic diseases;
- monitoring treatment with potentially hepatotoxic medications.
Procedure
Venous blood sample collection.
Result Interpretation
The results provide information about liver cell integrity, liver synthetic function, biliary tract patency, and pancreatic enzyme activity.
Results should be interpreted by a physician in the context of the patient's clinical condition and other diagnostic findings. Abnormalities in one or more parameters alone are not sufficient to establish a diagnosis and may require further evaluation.
Preparation:
- blood sample collection is recommended in the morning;
- preferably fasting (8–12 hours without food; water is allowed);
- avoid alcohol and fatty meals for 24 hours before testing;
- avoid intense physical activity before sample collection;
- inform your physician about all medications you are taking, as some drugs may affect the test results.
