Gastroenterologist consultation (PhD in Medical Sciences)

800.00 MDL

A gastroenterology consultation is a medical assessment of the digestive system performed by a gastroenterologist who holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree. During the consultation, the patient's symptoms, medical history, previous test and examination results, and risk factors are evaluated to identify possible causes of digestive disorders and determine the appropriate diagnostic and treatment approach.

Depending on the clinical situation, the doctor may recommend additional investigations, laboratory tests, ultrasound, endoscopy, or other diagnostic methods.

Indications

  • abdominal pain or discomfort;
  • bloating, a feeling of fullness, or heaviness after meals;
  • heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux;
  • nausea or recurrent vomiting;
  • bowel disturbances — constipation or diarrhea;
  • persistent changes in stool;
  • blood in the stool;
  • unexplained weight loss or weight gain;
  • food intolerance or digestive symptoms associated with certain foods;
  • diseases of the stomach, intestines, liver, gallbladder, or pancreas;
  • monitoring of previously diagnosed gastrointestinal diseases;
  • interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic test results;
  • treatment recommendations and monitoring;
  • preventive gastroenterological assessment or consultation recommended by a doctor.

Procedure

The consultation begins with a discussion of the patient's symptoms, their duration and progression, diet, medical history, medications, and family history. The doctor reviews the available laboratory and diagnostic test results.

Depending on the symptoms and clinical findings, a physical examination, including an abdominal examination, may be performed. If necessary, the doctor may recommend additional investigations, treatment, or follow-up.

At the end of the consultation, the patient receives individualized recommendations and, when necessary, a plan for further diagnostic testing or follow-up.

Preparation:

  • No special preparation is required for a gastroenterology consultation.
  • Bring the results of previous laboratory tests and diagnostic examinations, especially those related to the digestive system.
  • Prepare a list of medications and dietary supplements you are currently taking.
  • Inform the doctor about previous surgical procedures, chronic conditions, and known allergies.
  • If you have recurrent digestive symptoms, it is useful to note their frequency, circumstances of occurrence, and any possible association with specific foods.
  • If additional investigations are scheduled on the same day, follow the specific preparation requirements for each examination.
