Nasal endoscopic polypectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure aimed at removing nasal polyps — benign growths of the mucosa in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. The surgery is performed through the natural nasal passages using a rigid endoscope with a video camera, allowing precise manipulations without external incisions.
The procedure restores nasal breathing, improves sinus ventilation and drainage, reduces inflammation, and enhances the patient’s quality of life.
Indications
- Presence of large or multiple nasal polyps
- Chronic bilateral nasal congestion
- Frequent or chronic rhinosinusitis resistant to treatment
- Inflammatory anosmia
- Insufficient effect of medical therapy (corticosteroids, antihistamines)
- Comorbid conditions: bronchial asthma, aspirin intolerance (Widal/Samter syndrome)
Procedure / Duration
- Performed through natural nasal passages, without external incisions
- Local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on indications
- Polyps are removed under endoscopic video control using microinstruments
- Duration: 30–60 minutes
- Hospitalization usually not required — discharge on the day of surgery or the following day
Contraindications
- Acute upper respiratory tract infections
- Uncontrolled systemic diseases
- Untreated coagulation disorders
- Allergy to anesthetics or other medications used
Rehabilitation / Limitations
- Recovery period: 3–7 days
- Avoid physical exertion, dust, and irritants
- Regular follow-up with ENT physician as needed
Clinic / Procedure Advantages
• Minimally invasive technique without external incisions
• Minimal risk of complications

Preparation:
- ENT consultation and endoscopic examination + CT of paranasal sinuses
- General blood tests (CBC, coagulation profile, glucose, etc. )
- Preoperative anesthesiologist assessment (if general anesthesia is planned)
- Fasting for 6–8 hours prior to the procedure (in case of general anesthesia)
- Temporary discontinuation of medications increasing bleeding risk (anticoagulants, NSAIDs) as advised by the physician
